Our Opinion Of HVCC & The Forced Use Of Appraisal Management Companies

We stand firmly opposed to proposed HVCC  (Home Valuation Code Of Conduct) and it's clearly stated mandate that forces lenders to use appraisal management companies.   HVCC originated as a device for political gain by the New York State Attorney General.  It was never thought through and will create havoc within the appraisal trade as well as the lending industry.  It will also increase the cost of appraisal services to the general public by at least 50%.  We strongly encourage residential appraisers to pursue "profitable" careers rather than accept the 40%-50% fees that AMCs are willing to pay.  We also encourage appraisers to band together in the class action lawsuit that will inevitably follow once they are forced to give up their existing client base and banned from marketing their services to the majority of lenders in the U.S.
